DIE BOTTOM-LINE

 Blog prent joy

Ek het vasgestel. Om op te hou rook moet jou MINDSET reg wees. Jy moet as’t ware ‘n MIND ALTERING ondergaan. ‘n RENEWING OF THE MIND, soos die Bybel dit noem! Sonder dit help enige middele eenvoudig niks nie. Ek het die medikasie Champix op die proef gestel vir die tweede maal. Dit het nie vir my gewerk nie.

Ek kon nie verstaan hoe sekere mense soos my oulike, sexy-geboude Pilatus instruktrise, elke dag kan oefen terwyl sy steeds rook nie, en haar woorde het by my bly spook, “My darling, I’m a recovering alcoholic! Smoking is my only saving grace!”

C.G.Jung.

MY uiteindelike, EENVOUDIGE “method of choice” vir ophou rook:

1. Enige vorm van OEFENING elke dag

2. Fokus op die POSITIEWE gesondheidsdade elke dag i.p.v. op die rook

3. Fokus op die positiewe dinge wat jou INSPIREER i.p.v. op die rook

WHAT YOU FEED GROWS, AND WHAT YOU STARVE DIES.

                                            Gal.5: 19-23 (die Bybel)

We have to feed the spiritual nature in us, then we won’t be doing what our sinful nature craves.  We must FEED our spirit and we will start to STARVE the sinful nature. Our sinful human nature doesn’t want to do what the Spirit does and it craves the opposite things of the Spirit. We battle with our sinful nature. We must allow ourselves only to be fed by the Spirit.

We should position ourselves around the things of God. We have to find out what God is doing and connect ourselves to that.

(You don’t even need to waste time to see a councelor. ALL human problems start to exist from SIN. Look at what you are holding onto in your life that you need to repent of).

Be Your Own Best Friend

Take time to do something relaxing for yourself every single day. It could be as simple as taking a half hour alone in a quiet room to read a good book, or it could be as much as scheduling an afternoon at the movies. Avoid a piling on of stress by taking time daily to decompress.

Work on your Resolve.

Attitude will make or break your success. Your mind can be your best friend or it can be your worst enemy.

It may take some time, but you can change your thoughts and beliefs by training yourself to listen closely to the mental dialog within and correct faulty thinking as it comes along. Pay attention to the running dialog going on in the background of your mind. We talk to ourselves all day long, and often our thoughts are negative and counterproductive. We tend to believe what we tell ourselves over and over, so give yourself positive cues. Train yourself to think in terms of I can and I will, instead of I can’t and I wont, and before you know it, you’ll be a successful, long-term exsmoker looking back wondering why you waited so long to quit. smoking.about.com

Smoking cessation offers benefits that go far beyond better health and more money in your pocket. About.com Smoking Cessation Forum members share some unconventional feelings on what quitting tobacco means to them.

Wonderful confirmations…

THE SMELL

I love that I can smell my soap when I am showering.

I love it that I can buy some really great soaps!

After I showered, and were getting dressed, It occured to me that I love the way I SMELL when I don’t smoke.

I also love the fact that I smell like the soap – not stinky smoke.

I smell my perfume.

I smelled the lotion that my daughter gave me for Mother’s Day, which I slathered on my arms after my morning shower.

I’m a big fan of perfume and body lotion, and those lovely fragrances don’t get muffled and polluted by the stench of the sigarettes anymore!

Hair and body smells good! And my clothes smell so fresh!

I smelled the baby shampoo I lathered my son’s head with as he giggled in the bathtub!

Everything from my fingers to my hair carried the remnants of tobacco smoke, and who wants to cuddle or be close to that?

I love giving my hubby big, sloppy kisses, which isn’t “aloud” when you smoke!

My little children notice that I smell better!

Even my five year-old notice that I smell “pretty”~!

I love it that my daughters tell me that I smell ‘lovely’.

My grandson saying, “Nana you smell so purty!”

I love the way my house smells

My home smelling good again!

I went out and bought expensive candles…the smell is heavenly and lingers for days. Sure beats stale cig smoke..YUK!

I love that my garage no longer smells like a stale ashtray.

I loved smelling that someone is making popcorn 50 feet away and through 2 doors in the cafeteria!

I smelled the peanut butter I spread on the sandwiches for my little one’s lunch!

I love that I can take a walk in the park and be able to smell the flowers.

I love being able to smell the honeysuckle bushes on my walks.

BEING IN CONTROL

I love being in control.

I love being in control of ME!

I feel wonderfully powerful that I am able to fight this addiction.

LIVING IN THE MOMENT. THE ENJOYMENT OF LIFE. NOT WASTING TIME. NOT MISSING OUT ON LIFE. DEPENDENCY.

I love that I can actually think about taking a long car ride or plane flight without having to stress about where and when I would be able to smoke.

I love not hiding and counting down the minutes that I “sneak away” and hope to God I am somewhere where I can smoke!

No late night runs to the store to buy a pack of smokes!

I love that I don’t constantly have to take a million smoke breaks.

Not missing the first few minutes of my TV shows because I’m off having a smoke between shows!

Most of all, I love the fact that by quitting smoking, I will have more time on this earth to enjoy with friends and family.

I love going for longer and longer periods of time without even thinking of smoking as though it doesn’t exist. It has been stripped of its importance and no longer merits any attention.

EXERCISE

I love that I’m exercising and leading a healthier lifestyle.

I LOVE to exercise!

TENSION.  PEACE vs. FEAR

What a RELEASE of tension. Better than smoking ever was.

Freedom from addiction makes your life so much more peaceful.

I love that I can fall asleep without feeling my heart beating its way out of my chest, and it doesn’t miss a beat anymore! That was scary!

ILLNESS. FREEDOM FROM THE FEAR OF ILLNESS

That constant, gnawing fear in the back of my mind about whether I’d quit in time is gone.

I never realized how heavy the weight of that fear was to carry until I no longer had it in my backpack.

I love the freedom from fear and that I guaranteed myself a longer and healthier life.

I love that my little girl is no longer afraid that Mommy will die when she goes outside to smoke.

I love the fact that the fear is slowly leaving me – it’s an ongoing process, but every day that you pass smoke free, you know that you are doing the greatest thing ever for your health and the health of those around you.

CREDIBILITY. REALNESS. INTEGRITY. SELF RESPECT

I  love being able to say “no, I’m sorry I don’t have a light – I don’t smoke!”

I love that I can tell my kids to not smoke without sounding like a hypocrite.

I love that I am doing what I said I’d do.

GUILT AND SHAME

I love not having to sit in no-smoking sections of restaurants

I no longer support the tobacco industry.

LONELINESS. MEETING AND SERVING OTHERS

I love meeting other people on stop smoking-sites or forums that has achieved what I have.

I love encouraging others to get through the pain to the pleasure beyond!

MONEY

I love how at the end of the week, my allowance is still in my wallet and I get to spend it on whatever I want.

Saving cash for my quitting smoking cruise in one year!

COUGHING

No coughing!

I love not coughing constantly all day. Ahem coughs. Single little “ahem” coughs…remember those? The “I’m a stupid smoker” coughs. UGH.

I love to DEEP belly laugh without coughing up a lung!

I love that I can laugh without having a coughing fit!

FREEDOM

THAT’S just a start. Most of all I love my freedom..There’s nothing bad about not smoking. Not one darn thing.

I love being free from the ball and chain!

FREEDOM!!!

WAKING-UP

I love to wake up every morning knowing that I’m a non-smoker.

I love waking up in the mornings and not coughing a lung up because I’ve smoked too much the night before.

BEING AN INSPIRATION AND EXAMPLE

I love being an inspiration to others (and my sister is gonna quit)

I love that my kids are proud of my accomplishment.

I love that I’m setting a good example for my children

My children being proud of me for quitting smoking!

TASTE

I love eating a wonderful meal and actually tasting it.

I love being able to really taste my food – weird, but since giving up smoking, I can eat carrots and love them! I used to hate them before!

I love going into a restaurant and  don’t have to sit in a non-smoking section. No way do I want to smell smoke when I am eating!

SELF-ESTEEM. CONFIDENCE AND STRENGTH

I love the improvements to my self-esteem.

We are all supermen and women, and the increased sense of self affects everything else in positive ways.

I love the newfound confidence and strength in ALL aspects of my life since my quit.

Nicotine addiction made me feel so powerless, and over time, it ate a serious hole in my self-esteem. Quitting changed all that.

YOU AND YOUR PARTNER

I Love that both boyfriend and I don’t smoke.

BREATH and ENERGY

Breathing! I love that I don’t get winded walking up 1 flight of stairs.

I love that I have the energy to run, dance, laugh and play with my kids without having to take a breather every 5 minutes!

SELF-CARE

Most of all, I love that I am taking better care of myself.

FEELINGS AND EMOTIONS

I also love the new-found feelings and emotions that I never knew I had because they were hidden behind a smoke screen before.

ABOUT LIFE

The positives are endless, but most important of all is GIVING MYSELF THE GIFT OF LIFE.!
